KUCHING: A former insurance company agency manager has lodged a report at the Sungai Maong Police Station here claiming that he has suffered a loss of RM200,000 as the money which was supposed to be paid to him had been wrongfully given to a third party by an insurance company with an office at Jalan Rock here.

Oscar Voon, 46, said he was diagnosed with nose cancer in May 2013 but had already recovered fully after treatment. He said he had two insurance policies with the Rock Road insurance company worth RM100,000 each totalling RM200,000. Due to his illness and treatment, he applied to the insurance company for payments under the critical illness claim.

Advised by the company, he said he cancelled the two policies and a medical card in order to receive the monies. However, he failed to get the promised payments. He added that he demanded explanation and release of the claim to him from the company but to no avail. He also said that he had lodged a complaint with Bank Negara regarding the matter and was advised to make a police report.

Although he repeatedly approached the company to get what was due to him, he was unable to get any assistance from the company staff or documents relevant to his claim, Voon pointed out. He added that in 2016, he was shocked to learn that the RM200,000 had been paid to one Ms Kueh in 2013 without his knowledge or authorisation.- Bernama
