MUKAH: Like in any other parts of the state, the fresh water prawn has always been considered as one of the most sought-after items sold at the wet market, here.

Despite being tipped as the most expensive food item by the local people here in Mukah, it is believed to be among the most stable in terms of price.

Its price had been maintained between RM20 and RM35 per kilogramme since long ago, and the price variance is very much depending on the size of this riverine product.

Balingian and Tatau are considered among the most popular natural prawn breeding areas.
