KUCHING: The Pakatan Harapan (PH) government will finance the construction of a house for Tchee Fah Hin as soon as the Sarawak government allocates land to do so.

Pending assemblywoman Violet Yong said that construction will begin as soon as the Land and Survey Department provides a piece of land nearby where he is currently residing. The house will be constructed by Syarikat Perumahan Negara Bhd (SPNB), she said.

‘Once the Sarawak government allocates a piece of land nearby where he currently stays, the federal government will build the house for him.’

Tchee lost his son, Tchee Kiom Joong, to an explosion at CityOne Megamall two weeks ago, which claimed three lives and injured dozens.

The house will be equipped with three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen and a living area.

“Once the Sarawak government allocates a piece of land nearby where he currently stays, the federal government will build the house for him,” Yong told reporters at the DAP headquarters here, yesterday.

“I urge the Land and Survey Department to expedite the process. I would like to thank the department’s management team for their initiative and their concern over this case,” she said, adding that she has met with SPNB public relations chief Wan Habeeb Ali Wan Yep Mohdzar on Thursday.

Tchee’s plight was recently highlighted by the media. The 66-year-old retiree also recently lost his wife.
