MIRI: A canteen in an estate at KM 115 Niah, Jalan Miri-Bintulu was completely destroyed in a fire on Saturday morning.
Miri Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) chief, Law Poh Kiong said three firefighters from Batu Niah Volunteer Fire Bridage (PBS) led by Cr William Thien rushed to the scene after responding to a distress call received at 12.22pm. The volunteers arrived at 2.30pm while a team of Miri firfighters reached at the scene at 2.40pm.
Fortunately, no injury was reported in the incident. According to a source, it was believed that the fire had started around 10.30am. The operation ended around 3.30pm. It was not immediately known what caused the fire.
