MIRI: A family of six was left homeless after a fire razed their home on Tuesday evening in Lambir. Fortunately, no casualties or injuries were reported in the 5.30pm incident.

The fire was reportedly first spotted by the house owner, known as Pui Jin Hua as he was walking towards a store room located at the back of his house to pick up his grass cutter machine.

“Suddenly I saw clouds of smokes coming out from the store room,…and I immediately shouted to alert my family members,” he said. The fire spread rapidly engulfing his house within seconds.

“I was glad and blessed that my family and I were unharmed in the incident,” said Pui.

His razed dwelling was located about 12km from city centre. Two fire engines from Miri and Lopeng fire stations were deployed to the scene after they received distressed alert on the incident.

Present at the fire scene was Miri fire station acting chief, PPgB Zulbada Alior who said that the razed house was considered a total loss.
