SIBU: Eight people were left homeless when fire razed their house at Kampung Nangka, Jalan Kaka here at 10.35pm on Sunday.

State Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Operation Centre (PGO) was informed of the fire at 10.35pm.

Following the call, 14 firefighters from Sibu BOMBA led by PBK II Donny Sumping rushed to the location.

Sungai Merah BOMBA also dispatched seven firefighters led by PBK II Sairulnizam to the scene.

The Operation Commander was PBT Muhamad Jusoh.

According to Jusoh, the fire razed a two-storey house in the village.

Upon arrival at the location, the firefighters immediately spring into action and managed to stop the fire from spreading to nearby houses.

The fire was completely extinguished at 11.49pm.

During the fire an asthmatic woman was taken to Sibu Hospital in an ambulance.

The occupants in the house comprised three men, four women and a girl. All of them were safe.
