Texas Scramble event to be held at DGCC next year

KUCHING: The first of its kind Texas Scramble Golf Tournament will be held at Damai Golf and Country Club (DGCC) starting February next year and it is expected to attract 100 golfers from throughout the state.

According to DGCC’s general manager, Roslan Mohd Salleh, the competition is open to both club members and non-members whereby they are allowed to set up teams each consisting of two players.

“The event is very popular in Western countries and it is basically an inter-team golf league where the winners of individual matches will proceed to the Winners’ Pool while the losing teams will be playing in the Losers’ Pool,” he said.

“The individual matches are based on stroke play and the teams’ final score is determined by the best results achieved by any of the playing members. It is therefore important for the team members to achieve the best score so that they can proceed to the winners’ pool,” Roslan added.

He said the event is expected to be held on a double knockout system and the grand finals will be held in the middle of next year when the top teams from both pools will receive attractive prizes.
