KABONG:  A five-metre-long male crocodile was shot to death by a resident of Kampung Emplam near Kabong yesterday.

The crocodile was shot using a shot gun while trying to attack and eat livestock.

Kampung Emplam head Boestamam Bakar said the incident occurred around 2.30am.

“The presence of the crocodile was realised by the villagers when the crocodile was about to eat livestock under the house of the resident.

“The resident checked under his house when he heard of loud noise and found a large crocodile under his house,” he said.

He then called for help from his neighbour  who has a gun and immediately shot the crocodile.

Kampung Emplam is located on the riverbanks of the Seblak River which is famous for its numerous crocodile population whereby human attacks by the reptiles were quite a few recently.

As such crocodile attack incident was nothing new to the villagers there.
