SELANGAU: Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Datuk Joseph Entulu Belaun had to cancel his visit to the flood victims in Tatau yesterday due to bad weather in the area.

“We want to monitor the Tatau region today but because of the bad weather, we were not able to fly from Sibu to Tatau and to the region of forepart of Kakus and Anak.

“Hopefully, either tomorrow (Saturday) or the day after tomorrow (Sunday), we can monitor the situation there,” said Entulu to the reporters yesterday.

Entulu, who is also the Member of Parliament for Selangau, added that they would try to monitor the situation in the area of Hilir Stapang and any other longhouses which were completely cut off from accessibility whereby few sections of the road were flooded.

“We have problems in terms of reaching them because the helicopter has no landing place due to the flood and we have no boats.

“So hopefully we will have enough boats at which the boats will be sent from Kuching. We have requested the boats and they will send between eight and 10 boats.

“Once we have that, we should be able to reach any parts of the flooded areas throughout Selangau,” he said.
