MIRI: The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) here raided a shoplot at Marina Square around 3.30 pm on Wednesday.

The raid was a follow-up to an earlier raid conducted last Saturday (Aug 11) in the same area.

“We suspected that the premises were operated by the same group, operating backend online gambling activities,” said State CID chief, SAC Dennis Leong in a press statement on Wednesday.

However, no arrest was made in the raid.

In the raid, police seized 40 computers, monitors and several other electronic devices for investigation.

The case is being investigated under the Common Gaming House Act 1953.

“This is a follow-up to the earlier raid,” Leong said.

During the raid last Saturday, nine people including the manager of the premises were arrested by Miri CID for suspicion of running an illegal online gambling processing centre.
