MIRI: Four individuals suspected of selling illegal lottery tickets were arrested by police during a raid on a premises in Pujut 1 here last Sunday.

The 3.30pm operation, codenamed ‘Ops Dadu’ was carried out by a police team from Miri Criminal Investigation Department (CID) following a public tip-off.

Miri Deputy Police chief, Supt Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said as a result of the raid, the four suspects including three women aged between 19 and 45 years were arrested.

“Police also seized four mobile phones, four portable printers, four pieces of paper believed to be betting slips and RM2,557 in cash,” he said here.

He said all suspects were detained at Miri Central Police Station lock-up to assist investigation.

“The suspects have been remanded and the case is being investigated under Section 4A(a) of the Open Gaming House Act, 1953,” said Stanley.
