STRATEGIC launches and promotions are expected to attract the world’s tourists to Sarawak.

A confident Tourism, Arts, Culture and Sports Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah told the DUN yesterday that  under ‘Visit Sarawak Campaign’, travellers and industry players will see a fresh, vibrant and modern Sarawak as a holiday destination.

He said the campaign was designed to attract “instant results” in Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and London.

He said his ministry was also looking at the potentials of Shenzhen, China. According to Karim, the official launch will be done in conjunction with the new year countdown on Dec 31 at Kuching Waterfront, which essentially will kick off the campaign.

As part of the campaign, Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) has inked an agreement with AirAsia for a plane livery to carry the campaign’s logo on regional routes.


‘On the international front, STB has just inked an agreement on strategic collaboration with Malaysia Airlines London and Tourism Malaysia London.’


The agreement includes attractive artworks for inflight head luggage storage and table-top trays in AirAsia Thai and AirAsia Malaysia, starting next month.

Besides, the campaign logo will soon be seen at high traffic locations within the commercial and business locations in Kuala Lumpur, Bukit Bintang, Pavilion, KLIA, KLIA2, and other strategic locations in Peninsula Malaysia.

“On the international front, STB has just inked an agreement on strategic collaboration with Malaysia Airlines London and Tourism Malaysia London for the campaign to be publicised and advertised in the European and the United Kingdom markets through London taxi wrap, home advertising and online packages offering competitive fares to Sarawak by Malaysia Airlines London,” he said.

Karim said STB would intensify engagement with all stakeholders to ensure ‘Visit Sarawak Campaign’ be felt and supported by all industries.
