Fruitful 2017 for Padawan police

PADAWAN: 2017 was a fruitful year for Padawan Police District Headquarters (IPD) with numerous crime cases successfully solved. This was disclosed by Deputy Padawan Police chief, DSP Merbin Lisa to the media after he attended IPD Padawan monthly assembly, yesterday.

“Our Narcotic Department managed to arrest suspects and seized various types of drugs comprising 360.73 grams of ganja, 288.13 grams of syabu, 11 Ecstasy pills, 33 Eramin 5pills and 0.5 grams ketamine.

Five suspects were arrested under Section 39B of the Penal Code, four suspects were arrested under Section 39A(2) of the Penal Code, 23 suspects were arrested under Section 39A(1) of the Penal Code and four suspect were arrested under LLPK – Dangerous Drugs (Special Preventive Measures) Act, 1985 (Act 316), “Our Motorcycle Patrol Unit under the Crime Prevention Department managed to arrest 10 suspects, seized two stolen vehicles and house-breaking tools,” he said.

According to Merbin, for 2018 the efforts will still be continued to eradicate illegal gambling activities under ‘Op Dadu’. “Even though our gambling machine case is zero there is a new trend using online where the gamblers need to buy reload cards (top up) to play the game online. “There are four cases of reload gambling in Matang and Batu Kawa areas and we are still investigating the matter,” he pointed out.
