GPS is start of new political era: Local leaders

MIRI:  Local leaders of the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) lauded the recent launch of its logo, as they believed it is the start of a new era in Sarawak’s political atmosphere.

The party’s logo was unveiled on Wednesday by the Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg.

“It definitely marked the new chapter for Sarawak’s political era,” said Cr Karambir Singh, who is assistant secretary-general of Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP).

He described the launching of the logo for as “a historical and significant moment in the history of Sarawak”.

“GPS now has the great opportunity to focus on developing and serving Sarawakians without being distracted by unnecessary ties to Malayan politics,” he opined.

Sharing the same sentiment is Bekenu assemblywoman Rosey Yunus who is also Women, Family and Childhood Development Assistant Minister.

“The official launch (of GPS’s logo) gives confidence to the people, besides providing a platform that integrates its political party components,”   said Rosey.

She further added, through this foundation, it will help to strengthen the relationship amongst the component parties under GPS.

She added, GPS will be the foundation of the Sarawakians’ struggles and will uphold the spirit of “love Sarawak”.

“We have embarked on a dynamic new era that validates our determination to transform Sarawak,” she said.

GPS consists of four component parties namely Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB), Sarawak United People’s party (SUPP), Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) and Progressive Democratic Party (PDP).
