GrabCar driver lodges report over damaged car

The condition of the car after being damaged by four unknown individuals.

MIRI: A GrabCar driver lodged a police report after his car was damaged by a group of four men at Emart Commercial Centre here on Saturday night.

The incident took place at around 10.30pm when he was about to put his customer’s luggage into the rear bonnet of his car. This was when three men approached him and smashed his car with his customer.

They also took his car key before fleeing the scene in another car.

Miri District Police chief, ACP Lim Ming Saeh when contacted confirmed receiving a report of the incident and said the front and rear windscreens and all side windows of the car were damaged.

He said the victim did not know the suspects including his customer.

“The suspects are in their 20s and the police are investigating the case under Section 427 of the Penal Code,” he said.

Lim said the victim was a full time GrabCar driver and had been using his own car (Proton Saga) to earn a living for the past two months.

He also said the victim was not injured in the incident and police were tracking down those involved to assist in the investigation.
