BALINGIAN:  Developments are taking place in Balingian and Mukah, thanks to the Barisan Nasional government, according to Balingian State Assemblyman, Abdul Yakub Haji Arbi.

“In the old days, people from the longhouses would take long boat rides to go to Balingian Bazaar and Mukah Town. Rural areas like Balingian need a government that delivers like the BN government.

“More development projects will come if the BN is given the mandate to rule again during this General Election,” he said in his welcoming speech at the Majlis Sejambak Kasih (Bouquet of Love) Hari Gawai Dayak and Hari Raya Aidilfitri Event held at the community hall of Kampung Masjid here yesterday morning.

The annual programme was officiated by Minister of Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development and Dalat State Assemblywoman, Dato Sri Hajah Fatimah Abdullah.

On the candidacy of the BN candidate for Mukah, Dato Hanifah Hajar Taib, Yakub said the top leadership had chosen her because they believed she was the right person to shoulder the responsibility.

“The leadership believed in her capability and capacity to bring development to our area because of her involvement in a number of non-governmental organisations at the state and national levels. She will also be able to join other people’s representatives and leaders from Sarawak in our struggle of taking back the eroded rights of the state and its people, especially those matters stated in MA63.

“The leadership also considers her a winnable candidate for BN. Because of that,  I would like to call upon the people in the area to stand firmly behind Hanifah and vote for her on May 9,” he added.
