MUKAH: A road safety and consumerism campaign was held at the Observance Tower at Ria Setia Setia Raja Commercial Centre here yesterday morning.
Held in conjunction with the forthcoming Gawai Dayak Festival and Hari Raya Aidilfitri 2018, the event was officiated by Mukah Member of Parliament, Dato Hanifah Hajar Taib.
It was the first official event to be attended by Hanifah in this fast growing district since she was elected as the people’s representative in the 14th General Election recently.
The annual programme was organised by theMukah Resident Office in collaboration with Mukah Division Road Safety Council and Ministry of Domestic Trade, Cooperative & Consumerism (KPDNKK) Mukah Office.
In her brief speech at the programme, Hanifah thanked and congratulated the organiser for organising the very meaningful event that touched on the importance of abiding to the traffic rules and regulations on road safety in general.
She also congratulated the Mukah Division Consumers Committee under KPDNKK Mukah for organising the programme to make consumers aware of their rights and encourage them to be thrifty, especially during the festive season.
Also present were Political Secretaries to the Chief Minister, Haji Kenil Jaraee and Faridah Osman, Mukah Division Deputy Resident (Planning and Strategic), Abdul Halim Abdullah, Mukah District Officer, Shafrie Saili, heads of departments and local community leaders.
