KUCHING: Three students from Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Tabuan Hilir, Kuching created their own history when they were selected to pursue their studies at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Tengku Indra Petra, Gua Musang in Kelantan (SMKTIP).

The students were Fatin Nazirah Abdullah, 14, Nur Dania Syuhada Abedul Samad, 13, and Muhammad Haaiqal Mohamad Basare, 13. The trio were selected to further their studies at the school based on their excellent track record in cricket.

The headmaster of SK Tabuan Hilir, Normalis Sebli, said all three of his students were suggested by the Malaysian Malay Cricket Association to extend their sport’s involvement at the secondary school level supplied with a cricket trainer from Sri Lanka.

“SMKTIP is a school that has a planned training system for the development of cricket under the auspices of the Malaysian Cricket Association.

“We hope that with such opportunity, all the students will be able to see them becoming professional Sarawak cricketers one day,” Normalis said when met recently, Hw hoped his ex-students will become stars to contribute to the progress of cricket in Sarawak and to represent the nation in future.

Earlier, he expressed his gratitude to all parties, especially the Sarawak Cricket Association (SCA) for their support and encouragement to the three students.
