KUCHING: Padawan police smashed a housebreaking and theft syndicate with the arrest of ten suspects who have been detained for further investigation.

A total of 78 stolen items, including a motorcycle, were seized. These items were reported stolen recently in a few areas.

Following an information received at about 5.30 am police raided a house at Mile 9, Jalan Matang and arrested seven persons aged between 23 and 41 on Sunday morning.

Except for one, all of them had numerous police cases of violent crime and property crime before. Seized from the house was a water jet.

On the same day, police went to a house at Mile 10, Jalan Matang and arrested three persons aged between 23 and 41. All the three had previous convictions.

Seized from the three were a stolen motorcycle and was seized from one of them were 12 packets of Syabu. He was suspected to be a drug pusher.

Later at 12.15, police went to a house at 9 and a half Mile, Jalan Matang. From there they seized grass cutters, four pairs of shoes, one unit of play station, a massage machine, four handbags, camera, handphones, video player, chainsaws, grinder, drills, air pressure hose, tablets, compressors, motorcycle sport rims, engine covers, oil tanker, piston and car exhaust among others. Total items seized numbered at 78.

Police are looking for other suspects still at large.
