KUCHING: An encouraging response has been received for the 13th Edition of Handball Championship Chief Minister’s Cup (Datuk Patinggi Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Johari Tun Openg) 13th Edition 2018 (Men’s category) and 8th Edition of Handball Championship Dr Haji Abdul Rahman Junaidi Cup (Women’s category). A total of 22 teams from the men’s category and 12 teams for the women category have confirmed their partipation in the tournament.
This was confirmed by Sarawak secretary-general of Sarawak Handball Association (SAHA) Dr Abang Ismail Abang Julhi. “Initially, we did not expect to receive such encouraging reception for the two tournaments,” said Dr Abang Ismail However, Dr Abang Ismail said his association is targeting 24 teams for the men’s category and 16 teams for the women category.
Dr Abang Ismail believed the quota is expected to be filled as there is still time to go. According to Dr Abang Ismail, the tournaments organised by SAHA will be held from at Stadium Perpaduan, Petra Jaya March 19 to 22. “Interestingly, both tournaments are for those aged of 15 years old and above and participation is open to teams from around the country.
