In Shenzhen, China to visit Lazada

SHENZHEN, CHINA: Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Industrial & Entrepreneur Development, Datuk Amar Haji Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, led a Sarawak delegation to visit Lazada, an e-commerce company majority owned by Alibaba Group, in the Special Administrative Territory of Shenzhen, China from August 14-19, 2017.

The visit was to understand the setup and operations of Lazada in China, particularly with regard to cross border commerce.

It is in line with the state’s aim of embracing the digital economy, especially encouraging small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to promote and export their products beyond the borders of Sarawak.

In the delegation were Assistant Minister ofEntrepreneur and Small, Medium Enterprise (SME) Development and Assistant Minister of E-Commerce, Datuk Haji Naroden Haji Majais, Assistant Minister of Industries and Investment, Malcolm Mussen Anak Lamoh, Chief Executive Officer of the Regional Corridor Development Authority (RECODA), Tan Sri Datuk Amar Wilson Baya Dandot, Head of the Entrepreneur Development Division of the Ministry of Industrial Entrepreneur Development (MIED)Sarawak, Samat Bin Junai and senior government officials.

Also in attendance was Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) Director in Guangzhou, China, Nazuki Abdullah.
