MIRI: An Indonesian couple was arrested for allegedly possessing drugs during a raid on a house in Batu Niah near here yesterday morning.

The couple, both aged 23, was detained in one of the bedrooms located on the first floor of the house in the 6.40am raid, carried out by anti-narcotics police personnel following a tipoff.

Two local men, believed to drug addicts, were also detained at the living room.

Miri District Police chief, ACP Lim Meng Saeh confirmed the arrests and said police found four packets of crystalline substance believed to be syabu in the couple’s bedroom.

“All suspects tested positive for drugs and they have been detained to facilitate investigation under Section 12 (2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act, 1952,” he said.
