Injured machete-waving suspect receives 27 stitches

MIRI: In the act of self-defence, a 25 year-old driver lorry injured his attacker during a quarrel in his house on Saturday afternoon.

Following the 3.15pm incident, the suspect sustained injuries to his left arm.

He is currently being treated at Miri hospital and received 27 stitches.

Prior to the incident, it was reported that the suspect had come to the victim’s longhouse in Batu 8 Lambir here armed with a machete and a spear which is used to snap off and discard oil palm fruits.

Upon his arrival, the suspect had shouted, demanding for the victim to come out.

At that time, the victim was at the back of the house with his grandfather.

They immediately rushed to the front side after hearing the shout and tried to calm down the suspect but to no avail.

Instead, the suspect attempted to harm the victim’s grandfather by waving the machete towards him (the grandfather).

Fortunately, the victim managed to prevent the act, which triggered a commotion between him and the suspect.

During the struggle, the victim managed to grab a machete and positioned it towards the suspect which injured his left arm.

They immediately called up the police and sent the suspect to the hospital for medical treatment.

The case is being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation.
