‘IPeople App’ ideal for Kuching fest goers

KUCHING: Visitors can now find out which stalls are participating in the Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Kuching Festival Food Fair 2018 through the newly launched application called ‘IPeople App’.

The Organising Chairman of Kuching Festival Food Fair, Goh Tze Hui said that the application serves as a platform for visitors to search for information on the stalls before they head to the food festival.

“The application also include features such as the location of the stalls,” he explained in a press conference at MBKS building here yesterday. He also urged visitors to download the application as they could search for the stalls’ number in the application.

“However, features such as photos have yet to be included due to limited time,” he said.

He also said that for the next food festival, the council would be working with traders to display pictures of their food and beverages in the application.

Meanwhile, on the Kuching Festival Food Fair 2018 which would be held from July 27 until August 19, Goh revealed that there would be more that 250 stalls participating.

“Eight Chinese clan associations will also be participating in the food festival to showcase their local delicacies,” he said.

The Kuching Hainan Association will be participating from July 27 until 29, while Teochew Association from July 30 to August 1, Sarawak Hakka Community Association (August 2 – 4), Foochow Association (August 5 – 7), Sarawak Chawan Association (August 8 – 10), Hing Ann Association (August 11 – 13), Hokkien Association (August 14 – 16) and Kwong Wai Siew Association (August 17 – 19).

“From August 1 to 4, there will be a Cultural Night whereby traditional performances from Guangzhuo, Jiangsu, Yunnan and South Korea will be staged,” he said.

In order to ensure that everyone could watch the live performances from the Garden Stage, Goh revealed that a 20 x 16 feet LED screen would be placed before the entrance of the MBKS garden.

The Chief Minister, Datuk Patinggi (Dr) Abang Johari Tun Openg is expected to officiate the Kuching Festival Food Fair 2018 on August 1 in conjunction with the 30th Anniversary of Kuching City Day.
