KUCHING: A total of RM22. 26 million needs to be collected by the State Inland Revenue Board (IRB) as arrears for 2016 and 2017 as of April 2017.

According to the State IRB director Ramlot Keli, they will try to collect the due amount under their special ‘Kunjungan Mesra Hasil (KMH) Ops Kutip operation that was launched yesterday at the Malaysian Tax Academy, here.

“The outstanding tax payment is involving 471 cases, where 61 cases are registered under the companies’ names throughout the state,” said Ramlot after flagging off the Ops Kutip convoy of vehicles at the aforesaid venue.

She added the two-day programme involved 63 IRB personnel who were divided into 21 groups.

The state level programme started yesterday and ends today.  Those various areas in the state covered include the city areas of Petrajaya, Pending, Tabuan Jaya, BDC, Batu 7 and Batu Kawa. Other areas include Kota Samarahan, Penriseen, Padawan, Siburan, Serian, Sri Aman, Engkilili, Betong and Saratok.

The objective of the programme which is conducted simultaneously with the national programme is to increase the level of awareness and understanding of the taxpayers by holding a series of visits and also advisory services through the tax arrears notice delivery.
