The Sarawak Budget 2019 has showed the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) is concerned about the needs of the people — with the allocation of RM6.049 billion devoted to the rural development.
“The state budget presented by the Chief Minister is also able to cure the disappointment of the people against the National Budget 2019.

“I am happy that the state government has emphasised on the development of coastal roads involving roads and bridges construction,” said Coastal Road Assistant Minister Datuk Julaihi Narawi when asked by reporters yesterday.

He added the allocation for bridges construction involved the Muara Lassa Bridge, Mukah; Rambungan Bridge, Lundu; Batang Lupar Bridge as well as Kemena Bridge, Bintulu.

Initially, the proposed construction of all the bridges was financed by the federal government but canceled after the new government ruled.

“This budget is an initiative by the Sarawak government to build, complement and upgrade coastal roads from south to north of Sarawak,” said Julaihi, adding the approved bridges were Batang Saribas Bridge, Batang Krian Bridge, Batang Rajang Bridge and Batang Paloh Bridge.

Julaihi, who is also Sebuyau Assemblyman, is pleased that State Budget 2019 also provided allocation for clean water supply projects from Kota Samarahan to Sebuyau areas.
