KUCHING: The formation of GPS (Gabungan Parti Sarawak) is a good move especially in collaborating with the Federal Government for the betterment of the state and its people. This was pointed out by Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports, Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah during an interview by the media after a breaking of fast with the media and the ministry’s staffers at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) on Tuesday evening.

“Indeed, it will also strengthen collaborations with the Federal Government as the state still needs more development. “We cannot do away with the federal government. We have no argument with Pakatan Harapan and I see this as a good move taken by our state government,” Abdul Karim said. On Tuesday, Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi (Dr) Abang Johari Tun Openg announced that four Sarawak-based parties namely Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB), Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS), Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) and Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) were leaving the Barisan Nasional (BN) to form a new coalition called ‘Gabungan Parti Sarawak’ (GPS). Abuld Karim also took the opportunity to announce that he will be hosting a ‘Raya Open house’ at Penview Convention Centre (PCC), Kuching on 24 June from 10 am to 5 pm.
