MUKAH: Based on its performance last year, “Koperasi Desa Lestari Tellian Tengah dan Ulu Berhad Mukah(KODELT)” has been chosen as the top cooperative under the Desa Lestari Programme. Cooperative Commission of Malaysia(SKM) State Director, Osman Ismail, who revealed this, added: “KODELT is the best among the seven cooperatives in the state of Sarawak, especially for those under the Desa Lestari Programme.”
He stated this while visiting the cooperative office at Kampung Seri Tellian(Tellian Tengah) here recently.
Osman also dropped by at the KODELT Lorry Parking Bay at Kampung Tellian Daya (Tellian Ulu) to see part of the cooperative’s assets. He was briefed on the two latest projects being undertaken by the cooperative. One was to obtain a Bumiputera status while the other project was a proposal to operate a petrol station.
At the end of f i s cal year September 30 last year, KODELT recorded a pre- tax prof i t of RM380,303 compared to only RM18,215 in 2015. The cooperative was established about three years ago with a grant of RM4 million through the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development under “Program Desa Abad Ke-21”.
Since last year, KODELT has intensified its membership recruitment to meet the target of 1,000 members in order to qualify for an additional of RM1 million grant from the ministry. Also present during Osman’s visit were KODELT Chairman, William Laju and exco members of the cooperative.
