Kuching FA looks east

KUCHING : Kuching Division Football Association (Kuching FA) plans to send its players to South Korea next year to train with Suwon Football Club (Suwon FC). A memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to the effect was signed between Kuching FA and Suwon FC at Bangunan Baitulmakmur here yesterday. Kuching FA was represented by team manager Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman while Suwon FC was represented by its secretary-general Jeon Ohchan.

The e vent was witnessed by Minister of Tourism, Arts, Cul ture, Youth, and Sports Datuk Haji Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah. “Beginning next year, players from Kuching FA will be sent to South Korea to train with players from Suwon FC. “Our players will be able to gain exposure as well as raise their level of self-confidence,” said Karim.

He believed i t would als o st rengthen relat ionship and increase co-operation between both countries.“South Korea is an interesting nation. They have taken over the world in many aspects, such as in technology and music. “Many people are now using mobile phones made in Korea and their K-pop has revolutionised the world of music.

“We should be able to learn a lot from them, not just about football but in other areas like digital technology,” said Karim at the press conference held after the signing ceremony. Meanwhile, Fazzrudin disclosed that it had been quite a while he and his team were identifying a Korean club to collaborate with Kuching FA. “We picked Suwon FC for their football philosophy, which is developing football as well as fostering relationship between cities,” he said.“South Korea is an interesting nation.
