KUCHING: AmBank Group believes that Malaysians should have no problem celebrating and sharing festivities with one another.
Its corporate communications and marketing executive vice president Syed Anuar Syed Ali said growing up in a multi-religious and multi-racial setting, Malaysians must share all joyous occasions with full understanding and acceptance.
“In AmBank, we don’t have any issues with that and we are neutral. We want to make sure that we understand them (Malaysians of other religions) and they understand us. We then focus on our similarities,” he added.
“Ambank Group is not just about doing business. We also want to understand the community better and at the same time for them to get to know more about us,” he added.
Syed Anuar said this when speaking to officiate at the AmBank Group Christmas CSR programme with Salvation’s Army youth and children at the Salvation Army Children’s Home in Jalan Upland here yesterday.
He noted that ideally all Malaysians, irrespective of their racial and religious background, should strive to get to know one another better.
At the programme organised by Kelab AmBank Group (KAG) as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR), some 85 Salvation Army’s youth and children were treated to fun-filled activities including a sumptuous luncheon.
They also presented Christmas gifts and contributions to those present.
Earlier, Syed Anuar said the programme was one of the ways for the group to reach out and contribute to the community.
He said AmBank hoped to continue the programme in an effort to help the local community.
“From the CSR point of view, we want to continue to do this to help the hardcore poor. Although it is not much, but it’s something meaningful to them,” he said.
The charity programme falls under the AmKasih Programme, which is the group’s platform for its CSR sustainable development initiatives.
The programme focuses on reaching out to the community and serves as an umbrella for all AmBank Group’s CSR efforts.
Similar CSR programme was also organised in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.
In Kota Kinabalu, the group hosted a get-together for the residents of Bukit Harapan Theraphy Community that consisted of underprivileged children and residents with disabilities and special needs.
Among those present was AmBank Group vice president Engku Ili Hanisah.
