“I must have a birth certificate first before I can apply for my identification card (MyKad). When I heard that the National Registration Department personnel will be in the sixth edition of Samling Health Care Outreach Programme I decided to come here and re-apply for my birth certificate,” she told the New Sarawak Tribune when met during the programme.

It is understood that Lina has already submitted her application before but her application went missing and hence cannot be processed.

“I have been waiting for my birth certificate for 27 years and I hope that I can have it as soon as possible so that I can apply for my identification card (MyKad),” she said.

“I believe that there are still quite a number of my villagers who have yet to have their birth certificate and identification card. I don’t have the figure but I will ask the village head under Akah Patah to list the names of those who do not have birth certificate and identification card. It will be easy for us to assist if we have the exact figure,” he said.

Penghulu Ajang thanked Samling Group for bringing along the National Registration Department personnel in the programme which benefitted the people of Ulu Baram.

“I also wish to thank the government for the various assistance. We also understand that the government is trying its best to assist us to obtain our identification documents,” he said.
