KUCHING : Batu Kitang State Assemblyman, Lo Khere Chiang attended a pre-Gawai dinner at Kampung Bentung here on Sunday. He thanked the villagers for appreciating what the state government had done for them. He revealed that in just concluded 14th General Election, the voter turnout in the village was over 90.7 percent.

“In these two years, Chief Minister, Datuk Patinggi (Dr) Abang Johari Tun Openg has given grants and allocations to the village. the people. He has helped in the construction of a new hall costing RM300,000 and soon, RM1 million street lights will be installed.”

Lo also pointed out that the forthcoming Gawai Dayak Festival would be enjoyed by the Chinese, Malays, Ibans, Bidayuhs, Orang Ulus and other races. He added: “This is what Sarawak represents – a state of racial harmony and respect for one another”.
