KUCHING: Sarawakians must remember three important dates which are 22 July, 31 August and 16 September, said Batu Kitang Assemblyman, Lo Khere Chiang.

According to him, apart from celebrating the National Day on 31 August, remembering 16 September

is a must too as it is a date when Sarawak, Sabah and Malaya formed Malaysia in 1963.

“July 22 is an important date for Sarawak because on that date in 1963 we were free from British colonisation,” Lo told reporters when attending a National Day celebration held at Kuching Sentral near here, yesterday.

He added that history is important as it tells us why something happened in the past which has brought the country to what it is now.

Lo also noted that Malaysia has moved forward very far and the country is independently capable.

“My dream for Sarawak is that we are all capable of achieving prosperity together and in order to realise this we must work together regardless of who we are,” he pointed out.

He added that no other country in the world can achieve the harmonious environment that Malaysia has.

“We are one of the countries in the world which is multi racial, multi cultural and multi religious.
“On this 60th National Day, I would like to remind all Malaysians and Sarawakians to strive to work harder with all your heart to achieve what we envision,” said Lo.
