KUCHING: The people must remain united to ensure that peace and harmony prevail in the state.

This was pointed out by Batu Kitang Assemblyman Lo Khere Chiang in his speech at a Gawai closing ceremony at Kpg Semeba near here on Sunday night.

“Despite facing political or economic crisis, the people must work as one.

“Disagreement must be avoided and unity strengthened. We have no other option but to remain united to maintain peace and harmony in the state,” said Lo who is also chairman of Padawan Municipal Council (MPP).

“Today we are able to enjoy peace and harmony irrespective of race and religion because our forefathers were united,” he said. On the Gawai Dayak celebration, Lo said it was an important festival because it showcased the Dayak community’s unique tradition and culture.

“I also believe the unique tradition and culture of the Dayak community can contribute to unity in the state,” he said.
