SIBU: Now that the Registrar of Societies (RoS) has given Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) the nod, the next step will be the unveiling of the coalition’s logo.

Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg , however, is not going to rush into it.

Expressing his gratitude to the RoS and Home Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin for approving the registration of the coalition, he said he would wait for the details on GPS’ approval first before moving to the next level.

This includes the entry of the United People’s Party (UPP) into the coalition that would only require the approval of three-quarters of its members.

“We have to wait for the certificate (of registration) first,” he said.

The GPS was established by four former Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties, namely, PBB, Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS), Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) and Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) after quitting the BN following the defeat in the 14th General Election in May.
