LUNDU: Lundu will have its development focus to be a tourist destination and as a tourism town in Sarawak.

This was disclosed by Tanjung Datu Assemblywoman Datuk Amar Jamilah Anu. She said it will be inclined to cleanliness, landscaping, public utilities, drainage, street lightings and increased trading activities.

“In order to implement these focuses effectively, a good rapport between the people’s representative and the Lundu District Council is very important.

“Hence, council members should inform the public from time to time, of what the government plans to implement in both Lundu and Sematan.

“And among other things, council members should not compromise any policy made by the government and they should refrain from benefitting themselves and stay clear of deed inclined towards favouritism.”

Jamilah said this in her speech on Wednesday during the swearing in of the new Chairman of Lundu District Council, Awang Putrayusri Awang Redzuan at the Lundu District Council.

Apart from that, the Tanjung Datu Assemblywoman also said that council members should be efficient and proactive in solving any issues that rise in the district.

“Council members should also always be the voice, eyes and ears of the government whilst providing service to the people.

“Therefore, with the new appointment of the new Chairman of the council, I hope we can work together and develop Lundu for the future,”  Jamilah pointed out.
