MalaysiaBiz portal officially launched in Sarawak

KUCHING: MalaysiaBiz portal is now officially launched in Sarawak by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Datuk Joseph Entulu Belaun at National Institute of Public Administration (Intan) Sarawak, yesterday.

The portal is a platform for the business community in the state to gain registration information and business licences fast and easy.

It was an initiative of the Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) High Impact Programme 1 (HIP 1) Main Plan 2012-2020 by SME Corp. 

According to Entulu, the specialty of the portal is displaying a horizontal licencing information across various licensing authority comprising 1,174 types of business in the various economic fields.

“It was based on Malaysia Standard Industrial Classification (MSIC) 2008 prepared by Malaysia Statistics Department.

“This portal has been accessed by states in the peninsular since June, 2016. Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit (Mampu) has collaborated with the State Government as well as the state authority to enable the business community in Sarawak to benefit from the portal.

“Since May, 2017, registration information and business licensing in MalaysiaBiz portal for 99 state authorities were successfully provided,” he said, adding that by 2020, the portal will be expanded to provide registration application services and business licensing through a single gateway.

“This will accelerate the starting process of business and encourage the economic growth especially in Sarawak which the percentage of SME in 2016 comprising 6.7 per cent out of 61,000 overall total of SME organisations in Malaysia.

“To ensure the sustainability of the portal, Licence Information Partner (RIL) was appointed as an ambassador to make sure the information in the portal is updated, authentic and accurate,” he said.

During the ceremony, Entulu also handed appointment letters of Licence Information Partner (Rakan Informasi Lesen – RIL) for the state of  Sarawak comprising authorities such as local councils, District Offices and others.

Also present were Assistant Minister of Industrial Development, Malcolm Mussen Lawoh, Mampu Director General, Dato’ Dr Mazlan Yusoff and chief Executive of SME Corp. Malaysia, Datuk Dr Hafsah Hashim.
