KUCHING: A 28-year-old man was arrested under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drug Act (DDA) 1952 which carries a mandatory death sentence upon conviction. The suspect was also to be charged under Section 15 (1) (a) ADB 1952 for consumption of drugs.
Police arrested the man at Rock Road on Monday at about 1.15 pm. Acting on information received, the police team from Padawan led by Inspector Nicodemus arrested the man and checked his car.
They found him with two (2) green cigarette box brand ‘L.D’ in the man’s right hand. Police opened and checked the cigarette box in front of the man, and later found a medium-sized transparent plastic packet containing crystalline lumps suspected of a dangerous drug of syabu (roughly 50.50 grams) under the rear passenger seat The suspect was detained and underwent an urine test. He was also found positive for drugs.
