Man injured in assault

KUCHING: A self employed man aged 31 told police that he was assaulted by a man known to his friend over a misunderstanding.

The victim said he and a friend had gone to a pub at 1.20am on Tuesday to ask the suspect to return a gold chain belonging to his friend which was taken by the suspect.

The suspect refused and instead broke a bottle and used it to attack the duo.

The victim said he sustained a cut on his right finger, left palm and fingers in the attack.  After the attack he went to a private hospital where he was given 25 stitches on his wounds.

In another case, when a 57-year-old pensioner from Jalan Keranji, Tabaun Desa near here  returned to his house at about 9 pm he was shocked to see his house gate splashed with red paint.

The pensioner added that when he checked the CCTV recording he saw an unknown person splashing red paint on the house gate and his car.

Nothing was stolen from the house.

The pensioner did not know why his house was targetted as he had no quarrel with anyone.

He said he reported the incident so that the police will patrol his area more frequently. Meanwhile, in Jalan Astana near here when an assistant principal of a kindergarten aged 50 was shocked to find her office had been broken into and was also in a mess.

Among items found stolen were an air conditioner, a fan, fax machines, other electrical appliances, electrical meter and switches. She said a report has been made with Sesco.  Police are investigating.
