Man nabbed for alleged drug trafficking

MUKAH: The police arrested a local man suspected to be involved in drugs trafficking activities on Wednesday.

Mukah District Police chief, DSP Jimmy Panyau, in a statement yesterday, said the suspect was detained by a team from the district’s Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID).

He added that prior to the arrest they (police) arrested another man, believed to be involved in drug trafficking activities, on 14 June.

“With that, we have detained two individuals and the cases are being investigated under the Dangerous Drugs (Special Measure) Act 1985,” he said.

Jimmy disclosed that from 1 January until 30 June this year, a total of 120 individuals were detained over various drugs-related offences.
