MIRI: Police on Saturday afternoon arrested a man in his late 20’s in a longhouse at Sungai Lembong, Suai Niah, for running amok the night before.
According to sources, the suspect had acted in such a manner after being scolded by his father for bringing his girlfriend to the family’s orchard the day before.
It is believed that the father, who did not approve of their relationship, had reprimanded the duo when he saw them in the orchard.
Not satisfied over the matter, the suspect suddenly began shouting outside the longhouse at around 8pm on Friday.
He was seen holding a baseball bat and using it to volley some stones onto the longhouse roof, at the same time uttering offensive words and challenging anyone who dared to fight him.
Following the incident, the suspect’s father lodged a police report. Acting on the report, police arrested the suspect on Saturday at around 3pm.
