KUCHING: The Chief Minister, Datuk Patinggi (Dr) Abang Johari Tun Openg has officially launched the four-lane road from Matang to Stapok as well as the newly constructed bridge across Sungai Sarawak.

“This is exactly what we need as it will benefit everyone and will further modernise Petra Jaya.

“There’s so much more we want to do to improve connectivity in the state such as the LRT project,” he said.

He added that residents of Petra Jaya were fortunate to have the Minister of Works Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof as their Member of Parliament (MP) as there would be many more that needed to be developed in the state.

“With all this development, it means more integrated townships and we can plan more for our future,” he said during the officiation ceremony of the road and bridge at Matang here yesterday.

With the project worth RM145 million which started in April 2015, Abang Johari said that it would greatly reduce traffic congestion as drivers now have an alternative route.
