KUCHING: Six people were made homeless after their wooden house in Kampung Kelaka in Simunjan was razed to the ground by fire last Tuesday morning.

A spokesman from the State Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said eight personnel in a fire engine, led by Senior Fire Officer II Ahmad Soot, from Simunjan fire station rushed to the scene after a distress call was received at 11.48am.

He said upon arrival at 11.55am, firefighters found that the fire had engulfed the wooden structure and they immediately conducted a fire break to prevent the blaze from spreading to neighbouring houses.

No injuries or human casualties were reported and the operation ended at 1.50pm.

The cause of the fire and total losses were still under investigation.
