LIMBANG: Police arrested nine individuals, including a man, who is the most wanted in Limbang district, during an operation in Kampung Kelapa Mawar here yesterday morning.
Limbang District Police chief, Superintendant Mohd Bukhori Saffai said acting on intelligence and information received, a team comprising 16 police personnel and four officers from the district headquarters raided a house in the village at 6.30am.
During the raid, he said the main suspect, 49, were detained along with his two sons, aged 20 and 24; a couple, aged 47 and 28; a 19-year-old girl and three men, aged 18, 26 and 35.
He said the main suspect and other male suspects had tried to escape by jumping into a nearby river, but failed as the police had surrounded the area.
“All suspects including the two women were found positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine. The police have also confiscated a homemade shotgun and a cartridge,” he said.
Mohd Bukhori said besides the main suspect, the couple had previously been detained for drug-related offences.
He added that the case is being investigated under Section 3(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act, 1985 and Section 8 of the Firearms (Increased Penalties) Act, 1971.
