Motorbike collides with lorry, victim succumbs to injury

SARIKEI: A motorcyclist succumbed to injury after his motorbike crashed into a lorry near KM441 on the Betong-Sarikei Road on Sunday morning.

Sarikei District police chief, DSP Zamry Ali said the victim had been identified as Abu Bakar Sarbinee, 27.

The accident occurred around 10.30 am while the victim was on his way from Daro to Meludam.

“The motorbike collided with the lorry which was turning to the right. The lorry was from Sarikei heading towards Jalan Bulat,” said Zamry when contacted.

He revealed that the victim suffered serious injury to his legs and face. He was rushed to Sarikei Hospital but succumbed to his injury on arrival at the hospital.

Meanwhile, the lorry driver, aged 58, suffered minor injury. The case is being investigated under Section 41 of the Road Transport Act, 1987.
