Motorbike theft syndicate smashed following arrest of four suspects

KUCHING: Kuching police smashed a syndicate for motorcycle theft after the arrest of four youths on Wednesday morning.

Kuching police chief ACP Ng Ah Lek confirmed that an operation at Tabuan Hilir led by Inspector Mohd Rizal saw the arrest of four youths aged between 21 and 36 and seized two motorcycles which were reported missing in the city. The motorcycles were replaced with fake plate numbers.

The suspects were later found to be involved in several other crimes.

Ng said the case is being investigated under Section 379A of the Penal Code, which is house breaking and theft of a vehicle which will include jail term of not less than one year and not more than seven years, upon conviction.

All four were detained for further questioning.
