MIRI: A motorcyclist died after colliding with a car at Jalan Miri-bypass, here on Thursday night.

In the incident at 10.30pm, the victim, Andrew Boromeo Thomas, 26, was confirmed dead at the scene of the incident due to severe head and body injuries.

Local deputy police chief Supt Stanley Jonathan Ringgit, said during the incident the victim was riding a Yamaha motorcycle travelling from Jalan Airport to Pujut.

“The accident was believed to have occurred when the victim’s motorcycle collided with a Proton Saga car that trying to turn into the right junction.

“The collision caused serious injuries to the victim who died on the spot while the 29-year-old driver escaped unhurt,” he said.

Stanley said the body was sent to the Miri Hospital for a post-mortem with the case investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
