KUCHING: A 22-year-old motorcyclist killed in a road accident in Kampung Temelan Dayak, Lundu on Tuesday after his motorcycle collided with a three-tonne lorry.
Mohd Safik Merjalis of Kampung Pandan Lundu was said to have rammed onto the lorry foothold and the impact caused his death.
According to state Traffic Investigation and Enforcement chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu, Mohd Safik also got one of his legs severed in the mishap, apart from having suspected multiple bodily injuries.
The 34-year-old lorry driver, who is also from Lundu, was not hurt.
The police said both the motorcyclist and lorry driver were not drunk when the accident occurred, noting that the spot where the accident had occurred was slippery and the road is hilly.
The case was investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
