Motorcyclist killed in Kapit road accident

KAPIT: A motorcyclist was killed when the motorcycle he was riding was rammed by a four-wheel drive Toyota Hilux at the junction of Sungai Katibas Bridge here on Monday morning.

The fatal accident occurred around 10:45 am, about one and a half kilometre from Song. The Toyota Hilux was said to be travelling from Kapit to Jalan Temalat while the motorcyclist was travelling from Song to Jalan Takan.

The victim was being identified as Dennis Bin Stephen Kale, a school teacher who suffered severe injury to his chest and ribs while the driver of the Toyota Hilux, Djontius Anak Lebak and two other passengers were unhurt. 

Dennis was brought to Song Polyclinic for treatment but succumbed to his injury around 1pm the same day.

This was the first fatal accident at the junction of JalanTakan-Katibas Bridge since the bridge was completed and opened to public last year.

Motorists are advised to be extra alert while approaching the junction.
