KUCHING: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Bumiputera Agenda Steering Unit (TERAJU), Credit Guarantee Corporation Malaysia Berhad (CGC), RHB Islamic Bank Berhad, SME Bank Berhad and Skim Jaminan Pinjaman Perniagaan (SJPP) yesterday.
Held at Hilton Hotel, the MoU served to facilitate credit guarantees and financing facilities for Bumiputera companies undertaking sub-contract packages in the Pan Borneo Highway project and RM500 million was allocated for this initiative.
Prior to the MoU, Minister of Works, Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said in his speech that about 50 Bumiputera contractors could benefit from the programme.
“This would increase their chances of getting financing facilities from recognised financial institution.
“Through this collaboration, we hope that Bumiputera contractors will take this opportunity to be involved in the development of this highway as we want more Bumiputeras to be involved in the development of this country,” said Fadillah.
He also revealed that TERAJU and Talent Corporation Malaysia Berhad (TalentCorp) were undertaking a project called the Sarawak GLC Talent Development Programme.
This project aims to nurture senior management in government-link companies (GLC) so that they could implement the “best practices” in GLCs as well as broaden their professional networks.
